Located on the south bank of the River Thames, the London Eye has become one of the city’s most popular sites and an iconic silhouette in its skyline. While our visit happened to be on a foggy day, the view was still beautiful!
Launched in 2000, the London Eye was designed by David Barfield and his wife Julia, of Marks Barfield Architects. The London Eye stands 135 meters tall (about 443 feet), with a diameter of 120 metres (about 394 ft). Each of the 32 passenger gondolas represents one of London’s boroughs.
The London Eye offers a wonderful view of the city, especially of Big Ben directly across the river. I would love to visit again on a brighter day!
