Musée d’Orsay

The Musée d’Orsay was constructed in an old train station and hotel.
The station and hotel debuted at the World Fair in 1900.
The Gare d’Orsay served several purposes, such as a mailing centre for packages to prisoners of war during the Second World War, a movie set, and as base for the Renaud-Barrault Theatre Company.
The hotel closed in 1973. In 1977, the Intrministerial Council decided to begin the Musée d’Orsay.
